The name checker is designed to work without sending a search request to an application server.

Name searches

Searches run locally in your browser. The site downloads a small static slice of aggregated government data for the first two letters you enter and performs the lookup on your device. There is no name-search API, user account, or personal-record database.

Shareable results are stored after the # in the page URL. That fragment is processed by your browser and is not included in normal requests to the web server. If you intentionally copy and share that URL, its recipient can of course see the names in it.

The data we show

Every result is aggregated public statistical data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Social Security Administration. We do not show addresses, contact details, dates of birth, or records about identifiable people.

Basic hosting logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider may process standard technical request information such as IP address, browser type, requested file, and time for security and delivery. Because searches happen locally and use URL fragments, the searched name is not part of the normal page request.

Analytics and advertising

We use a lightweight analytics service hosted at stats.kzfm.com to understand aggregate site usage and improve the product. The analytics script is not involved in name lookups: searches still happen locally in your browser, and names stored in the URL fragment are not sent as part of ordinary page requests.

We do not use the checker to build personal profiles, and this version does not include advertising or an advertising-cookie system.
